Nvidia Reports Rise in Profit as Sales Surge

Nvidia Corp. said its fiscal first-quarter profit more than tripled as sales surged. The Santa Clara, Calif., graphics-chip maker said net income for the period ended April 28 rose to $83.25 million, or 47 cents a share, from $26.65 million, or 16 cents, a year ago.

Sales climbed 142% to $582.91million from $240.93 million.

Shares of Nvidia rose $1.48 to $38.05 on Nasdaq.
