Dixie Chicks-Sony Battle Near Resolution

Share

The legal battle between the Dixie Chicks and Sony Music Entertainment appears close to resolution after the Japanese record conglomerate said it would deliver the trio’s new single, “Long Time Gone,” to radio stations.

The popular country music act filed a breach of contract suit against Sony in August, claiming it was owed $4 million due to “systematic thievery” and Sony’s “corrupt” accounting practices.

The Dixie Chicks then met with competitors EMI Group and Bertelsmann Music Group but failed to strike a new record deal before returning to the negotiating table last month with Sony, sources said.

A renegotiated contract deal with Sony is expected to be hammered out within weeks.
