Mt. Lemmon Residents Flee as Wildfire Grows
From Times wire reports
About 100 residents were ordered to leave their homes on Mt. Lemmon as a wildfire in the Coronado National Forest grew to 12,500 acres.
The fire hadn’t damaged any structures but had the potential to threaten about 700 homes, said Joan Vasey, a forest spokeswoman.
In New Mexico, a wildfire burning in the rugged Pecos Wilderness of the Santa Fe National Forest had scorched 11,000 acres. Firefighters had contained 15% of the blaze and were getting a break as the wind died down.
