152 Rebels Killed in Assault on Army Camp

Nepalese security forces put down a rebel assault on an army camp, killing 152 Maoist fighters, officials said.
The battle began hours after Nepal’s king renewed a state of emergency Monday, which gave the army sweeping powers to tackle the revolt by Communist rebels seeking to overthrow the constitutional monarchy.
Nepal TV said thousands of Maoists had attacked the camp, about 350 miles west of the capital, Katmandu. Five soldiers were killed and 22 wounded, the army said.
