Cell Phone Sophistry

Share

Re “You Can’t Be on the Phone and in the Moment,” Voices, May 25: Since his father died suddenly 14 months ago, our son has voluntarily called me every day, twice a day, morning and evening. He calls while in the grocery checkout line, the school auditorium, the gas station--wherever and whenever he can on his cell phone.

He manages a large business and is a single parent of three children who does the laundry, the cooking, the home maintenance, supervises homework, etc., so I appreciate that he can and does take advantage of any moment he can to communicate with me. I think Christopher Nyerges should look at the broader picture before labeling cell-phone users “zombies.”
