Unhappy Halloween

Share

I work as a traffic officer for the L.A. Department of Transportation. On Halloween I was directing traffic at Las Palmas and Selma. I watched several families walk by me with the look of disappointment on their faces because they could not afford the entry fee to the fenced-off carnival. The city of Los Angeles was basically telling them that if you cannot afford the $10 to enter, then we don’t want you.

I felt very sad for these families, many of whom parked and walked for several blocks only to find they had to pay to enter. Perhaps the city will take down the fence next year and let everyone join in the festivities.
