Ex-Detective Freed After 2nd Man Admits Guilt

A former police detective serving a life sentence for a 1989 murder was freed after six years in prison because investigators said someone else had come forward to confess to the crime.
Jeffrey Hornoff, 40, was convicted in the beating death of Victoria Cushman, a woman with whom he was having an extramarital affair. Investigators say carpenter Todd J. Barry admitted last week that he was the killer.
