Ghana’s ambassador to Russia and his driver say they were beaten by half a dozen attackers, news reports said.

Ambassador Francis Yahaya Mahamma and driver Donladi Emor told police they were set upon by thugs Thursday, the Interfax news agency said. Emor said he called for police assistance but that no officers responded. The pair had to go to a police station to file their reports.

Russia has seen a number of attacks on racial minorities recently, including the April slaying of an Afghan interpreter.
