How Not to Take Personal Responsibility

Share

Re “Jury Orders Gun Seller to Pay,” Nov. 15: When will this foolishness end? An angry student, Nathaniel Brazill, walks into a classroom and kills his teacher with a legally produced and sold handgun. However, because the gun doesn’t have a “safety feature,” the manufacturer is found partially liable.

This shooting was no “accident.” Are we to believe that Brazill wouldn’t have disengaged the safety device before firing? Former tobacco industry prosecutor -- now turned handgun industry prosecutor -- Bob Montgomery asserts that Brazill (among others) wouldn’t have been “visited” by this “tragedy” had it not been for the gun manufacturer. Mischaracterizations continue to line trial attorneys’ pockets in gold while simultaneously destroying our justice system.
