Use of Police Files to Charge Students Barred
An Alameda County judge has banned UC Berkeley from using police materials to file disciplinary charges against students who held a protest last spring.
The judge said that officials must destroy records used in any hearings that have occurred, and may have to destroy materials from police videos showing students protesting.
Members of Students for Justice in Palestine took over Wheeler Hall last April and called on the university to divest from companies that do business in Israel. Police arrested 79 people, including 41 students.
