Vatican Issues Paper on Christian Unity in Welsh
For what is thought to be the first time, a Vatican document is being published in Welsh.
Significantly, the document is concerned with Christian unity. The document, published in English as “The Search for Christian Unity,” is titled in Welsh “Chwilio am Undod Cristnogol.”
The document was released this week at the Welsh Center for Ecumenical Studies at Trinity College, Carmarthen, by the three Catholic bishops of Wales: Archbishop Peter Smith of Cardiff, Bishop Edwin Regan of Wrexham and Bishop Mark Jabale of Menevia. Of the three, only Regan, whose episcopal motto is in Welsh, is a Welsh speaker: His two colleagues are still learning the language.
