Adelphia Communications Corp. founder John Rigas and his sons may use personal assets for reasonable living expenses and to pay legal bills, a federal bankruptcy judge ruled.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert Gerber partially granted a company request to limit the Rigas family’s access to funds, in an order that will remain in effect for at least 10 days. Rigas and his sons, Timothy and Michael, should be blocked from selling or transferring assets because they bilked Adelphia out of at least $3 billion, the company said in court papers.
