Unemployment Ploy

Re “Extended Jobless Aid Threatened,” Nov. 21: Why is the federal government paying people not to work? We already pay six months of unemployment insurance for workers. But that is not enough. We have up to an additional 13 weeks of payments. Now the additional 13 weeks of “extended benefits” may go away -- three days after Christmas. Why was Christmas listed as a factor? So we will feel sympathy and give away more of my tax money?

The federal government should have nothing to do with unemployment insurance.
