From Times Wire Reports

A top suspect in Rwanda’s 1994 genocide has been arrested in Congo and sent to face charges before an international tribunal, in a move hailed by Rwandan government officials and massacre survivors as a step toward justice.

Tribunal authorities said Tharcisse Renzaho, who was governor of Kigali, the Rwandan capital, and its vicinity during the genocide, was arrested in Congo on Sunday and flown to the tribunal in Arusha, Tanzania.

Prosecutors believe Renzaho was one of the organizers of the 1994 massacre, which lasted 100 days and killed 800,000 people, mostly Tutsis and moderate Hutus.
