Abductee Killed Before Payment, Officials Say
The kidnapper who abducted the son of a German private banking family killed the boy two or three days before collecting a ransom of nearly $1 million, officials said.
Police found the body of 11-year-old Jakob von Metzler on Tuesday lying near a lakeside dock northeast of Frankfurt.
Rainer Schilling, the Frankfurt prosecutor, said the body showed signs of neck injury.
A 27-year-old law student from Frankfurt who is close to the boy’s family has been charged on suspicion of abduction and murder in the case.
