Mortgage Rates Edge Higher This Week

The average interest rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rose to 6.01% this week, up from 5.99% last week, mortgage company Freddie Mac said.

Rates for 15-year fixed-rate mortgages dipped to 5.40%, the lowest level since Freddie Mac began tracking the rates in August 1991. Last week 15-year mortgages averaged 5.41%. One-year adjustable-rate mortgages rose to 4.29%, up from 4.22% last week.
