Teamwork Prevails on Yosemite Valley Plan

Share

Contrary to your Sept. 24 editorial, “Don’t Derail Yosemite Plan,” Supt. David Mihalic and I have never, as you put it, “crossed swords.” In fact, Mihalic and I have enjoyed a very amiable, professional and cooperative working relationship.

During his three-year tenure at Yosemite, Mihalic has done an admirable job implementing the Yosemite Valley Plan you so incorrectly report I intend to “derail.” He is an unquestionable asset to the National Park Service, and I have every confidence that he will continue to do outstanding work at Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Mihalic will leave Yosemite with my very best wishes. As for my intentions vis-a-vis the valley plan, I will continue to work on behalf of the taxpayer and visitor to ensure that an appropriate balance is struck between preservation and access.

Rep. George Radanovich

Chairman, Subcommittee

on National Parks, Recreation

and Public Lands, Washington
