DJ Spinna Gets the Anniversary Party Started for Firecracker

Share

Four years after it lighted a fire under the historically segregated Los Angeles club scene by mixing music styles to match a poly-glamorous crowd of clued-in artists, scenesters and hard-core club heads, twice-monthly club Firecracker can still bring the heat. This Friday’s anniversary soiree will be a sizzler, with an exclusive (and rare) West Coast appearance by New York music master DJ Spinna.

Spinna’s signature is his uncanny ability to move crowds with gritty hip-hop beats and soulful deep-house dance grooves. He’s been making noise with special themed sets like his “Wonderful” parties, devoted entirely to the music of Stevie Wonder. But it’s his newer “Soul Slamm” set that he’ll be showcasing tonight, which is a rollicking battle between Prince and Michael Jackson. This will be the first time he’s presented this wildly popular party outside New York.
