USC Kicking Itself: Oh, Wait, It Can’t

Share

The Trojans have shown now, in two games, that they are vulnerable. Vulnerability may be an endearing quality for a movie star, but not for a football team that wants to receive a bowl bid.

Let’s set the record straight.... Do we really believe that Ryan Killeen’s missed extra-point attempt and two missed field-goal attempts lost the game against Washington State. Well, quite frankly, yes! And please, don’t get me started on the absolutely pathetic running game. In any case, I lay the blame right at the feet of Carson Palmer.

Say what you might about his potential (translation: he stinks right now), two inexcusable plays really cost the Trojans the game last Saturday. How do you throw a lollipop pass into the end zone for an interception and how can you take a sack in overtime and then say, “I should have thrown it away?” You think?

The Trojans’ season is now officially over. No national championship game. No Rose Bowl. With Palmer leading the worst-ranked offense in the Pac-10, it’s time to work on next season.
