Christian Slater, who co-stars with Val Kilmer in the upcoming movie “Mindhunters,” has purchased a Westside home behind gates for just under $4.5 million.

It’s Slater’s first home purchase in the L.A. area since he sold his Hollywood Hills home to actor Tim Allen for $2.2 million in January 2000. At the time, Slater was spending most of his time in his native New York.

Hockey player -- L.A. Kings enforcer Ken Belanger’s name was misspelled in an Oct. 13 story about his Manhattan Beach home purchase.

The home he just bought was newly built by high-end residential developer David Murdock Jr., whose father is Dole Food Co. chairman and chief executive.

The house has four bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms in about 6,500 square feet. The master suite has his-and-hers marble baths, a fireplace, a vaulted ceiling and a balcony. The home also has a family room, library and studio. The grounds have a pool, spa, waterfall and gardens.

This year, Slater co-starred with Nicolas Cage in the movie “Windtalkers,” and he co-starred with Tim Allen, Richard Dreyfuss and Portia de Rossi in the film “Who Is Cletis Tout?” He also co-starred in “The Contender” (2000) and “Broken Arrow” (1996). He was cast in the Bob Dylan film “Masked and Anonymous,” which is due out next year. “Mindhunters” is also expected to be released in 2003.

Slater, 33, started acting at age 11 and began getting starring roles at 20. He purchased his first house when he was 19.

During the last few years Slater married TV executive Ryan Haddon, and they became parents of two children.

Taking a retreat from the Venice beachfront

Nicolas Cage, who bought a beachfront Venice home in April for about $2.7 million, has put his getaway up for lease at $35,000 a month, including furnishings.

Lisa Marie Presley, whom the Oscar-winning actor married in August, wasn’t keen on the view of bathing beauties in front of the house, area sources said.

The newlyweds have a number of other homes in the L.A. area.

The Venice house, which has an ocean view from every room, has a rooftop deck and mirrored windows, so occupants can look out but nobody can see in.

The three-story house has four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms in about 4,400 square feet. It also has a den, dining area, breakfast bar, media room and two fireplaces.

Cage, 38, co-stars with Meryl Streep in the movie “Adaptation,” due out Dec. 6. He made his feature directorial debut with the movie “Sonny,” which premiered at the Deauville Festival of American Film in September.

Leaving Beverly Hills -- together

Renee Taylor and Joe Bologna, the acting-writing duo for theater and TV, have put their Beverly Hills home on the market to lease at $15,000 a month, fully furnished, long or short term. The couple is moving to the beach for a while.

Their Country English-style home has three bedrooms in 4,300 square feet.

It was built in 1926 and has been completely updated. It features a living room with a fireplace and a wet bar; a family room with a fireplace and an office; a kitchen with an eat-in area; a master suite with cathedral beams and a fireplace; and an outside barbecue area with gardens, a pool and a guest house.

Taylor and Bologna have been married since 1965. They have renewed their wedding vows at frequent intervals and with great publicity in Buddhist, Hindu and various other ceremonies. In 2001, they co-wrote the Broadway play “If You Ever Leave Me, I’m Going With You.” The same year she wrote and starred in the one-person show “An Evening With Golda Meir,” which Bologna directed on Long Island. The couple has new productions of both plays on their schedule.

In 1999, he played Adam Sandler’s father in the movie “Big Daddy.” In 1982, he won acclaim for his role as a Sid Caesar-like TV comic in “My Favorite Year.” She had a recurring role of Sylvia Fine on “The Nanny” from 1994-1999.

Elaine Young and Barbara Eisner have the listing at DBL, Beverly Hills.

Off to their place in the desert sun

Steve Inwood, who played the evil character Moreno on the ABC daytime series “General Hospital,” and his investment manager wife, Susan, have listed their Craftsman-like home in Westwood for sale at just under $1.5 million.

The couple are selling because the home is too large for them now that they are spending more time at their desert retreat, which they bought two years ago. He wrote a screenplay called “Dark Eyes,” which he plans to film in Palm Springs next year. The couple also plan to buy a smaller home in Los Angeles. Susan Inwood is a senior vice president at Salomon Smith Barney Inc.

The actor, who has appeared on many TV series over the years and recently attended Paramount’s 20th reunion party as a cast member of the movie “Staying Alive,” personally restored the Westwood home, built in 1941, after buying it in 1995. He installed such Craftsman features as milled windows and walkways modeled after those at the Gamble House in Pasadena. The Gamble House is a prime example of the American Arts and Crafts style.

The four-bedroom, 3,300-square-foot house owned by the Inwoods has four bathrooms, a breakfast room, a formal dining room and a master suite with marble bath, sitting area and gym. The home also has three fireplaces, a brick patio, a pool and a spa.

The house is listed with Eliane and Armand Capdeville at Coldwell Banker, Westwood, and Stacey Weaver at DBL, Beverly Hills.

Manhattan Beach is this King’s goal

L.A. Kings enforcer Ken Belander and his wife, Sandra, have purchased a three-bedroom home in Manhattan Beach for $660,000.

The house, behind gates, also has 2.5 bathrooms in 1,900 square feet.

The Kings player, 27, was signed as a free agent a year ago last summer after the Boston Bruins failed to make him a qualifying offer. He grew up in Ontario.

Phyllis Cohen-Edwards of Shorewood Realtors, Manhattan Beach, had the listing.
