Students Lose in Dispute
As usual, children are the victims of two so-called adults (“Campus Dispute Comes to a Head,” Oct. 10). Riverside County teacher John Maurer’s lawyer mentions “principles” and says, “Someone’s got to stand up for something.” Well, great, Maurer took a courageous stand all right ... for the right to wear a hat? Then he and his boss engage in games of childish one-upmanship, resulting in harm to their students. Shameful on the part of both of these “educators.”
