5 Alleged Abu Sayyaf Members Held in Blasts
From Times Wire Reports
Five alleged members of the Muslim militant group Abu Sayyaf were arrested as suspects in a deadly series of bombings in Zamboanga, Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo said.
Officials said the men admitted taking part in the bombings of two department stores last week that killed seven people and injured 152 others and a blast Sunday at a Roman Catholic shrine that killed one person and injured 18.
Arroyo said that “they were virtually caught in the act of preparing for the next bombing.”
