From Times Wire Reports

The remains of an Army captain shot down over Laos in 1966 will be returned this week and transported to Arlington National Cemetery for burial Nov. 1, officials said.

Capt. Larry Lucas’ plane crashed Dec. 20 during a reconnaissance mission over the Ho Chi Minh Trail. In 1989, an American doctor on a medical mission to Southeast Asia noticed a Laotian patient wearing Lucas’ dog tags. Villagers subsequently led Army investigators to a crash site, but there was no sign of Lucas. A decade later, instigators returned and found pieces of Lucas’ watch and camera, as well as bone fragments.
