Storm Kills 15; 2 Marines Swept Away in Japan
Typhoon Rusa caused floods and landslides in South Korea, killing at least 15 people, after sweeping away two U.S. Marines in stormy surf on Japan’s island of Okinawa.
Twelve other people were missing in South Korea, and rescuers were trying to reach people trapped inside 10 cars buried in a mudslide.
The two Marines were pulled under by waves Friday night while watching the surf, the Japanese coast guard said. They were identified as Lance Cpls. Richard Moore, 24, and Beatriz Rodriguez, 20. Their hometowns were not given.
