Meetings to Seek Public Input on Use of $53 Million
The Los Angeles County Community Development Commission is holding a series of public meetings to gather input on how $53 million in federal housing and community development funds should be distributed.
“We want to hear from residents,” said Carlos Jackson, the Community Development Commission’s executive director, in a statement.
Residents of unincorporated areas will be asked to discuss existing resources in their communities and top priorities for future funding. The input will then help shape the county’s annual action plan and its five-year strategic plan. The funding could be used for a range of activities, including services for older people, child-care programs, home-buyer assistance and home repair programs, and homeless services.
The money was awarded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The next meeting will be held today from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Roosevelt Park Senior Center, multipurpose room, 7600 Graham Ave., in Los Angeles. A list of future meetings is available on the commission’s Web site--www.lacdc.org--or by calling Abbas Zeineddin at (323) 838-7703.
