Tear Gas Spreads From Farm to Nearby Homes

A lack of wind was blamed for the migration of tear gas into homes near a farming operation.
The farming company applied the chemical, chloropicrin gas, and was in the process of turning on sprinklers to spread it Monday evening when the gas drifted to nearby homes, fire Division Chief Jack Owen Jr. said.
An investigation found that the company followed regulations in applying the chemical, Owen said.
