City Becomes No-Fly Zone for Banner Planes
The Huntington Beach City Council approved an ordinance this week that prohibits banner-carrying airplanes from flying over the city and its beaches.
Under the law, which takes effect in 30 days, aircraft companies, pilots and advertisers face fines up to $1,000 if banner ads are towed over city limits, which includes the beach and extends three miles out to sea. Pilots can also be sentenced to as much as a year in jail.
