Sometimes they’re very large, crunchy and a deep golden brown, sometimes they’re thin, crispy, and frizzled. Whatever the style, they’re an American favorite!

The Bungalow: You’ll find these soft, sweet, slightly crusty onion rings as a side dish or piled high on top of various cuts of beef. Morton’s: Movie executives may be making deals around you, but focus on the divine onion rings. Either have the burger, which comes with an ample pile, or get a side order. These tasty, thick crisp rings are made from yellow onions dipped in milk and seasoned flour then bread crumbs with a dash of paprika, white pepper and cayenne. (Onion rings, $5.) Brentwood: These giant onion rings are served as an appetizer or a side dish. They begin with thickly sliced Maui onions that they cover in flour seasoned with paprika and cayenne, afterward the onions are fried in olive oil till sizzling.
