Hahn Appointments Too Cozy for Comfort
Thank you for exposing L.A. Councilman Hal Bernson’s pushing of Airport Commission President Ted Stein’s housing development in Chatsworth (“City to Appeal Development Ruling,” Sept. 14).
I thought only some Eastern cities were guilty of having relatives placed in high positions. It seems that Stein has gotten his wife and daughter positions at city taxpayer expense. Mayor James Hahn appointed Stein’s wife to the city Public Works Board; his daughter is Hahn’s field representative. Stein held a fund-raiser at his Encino home and collected nearly $500,000 for Hahn’s anti-secession campaign. I wonder who appointed Stein to his position. These seem to be cozy arrangements, and the taxpayers are paying. Perhaps Chatsworth residents should start a recall petition to have Stein relieved of his position on the Airport Commission. I will be glad to put my John Hancock right up there on the top. Maybe it is time for Valley residents to secede from Los Angeles.
