The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday to increase business licensing fees in unincorporated areas by 10% to 30%.

County Auditor-Controller J. Tyler McCauley requested the increase, saying the fees were necessary to allow the county to recover the costs of processing business license applications and renewals.

The fees are expected to bring in $1.7 million in annual revenue, an increase of $300,000. On average, fees for an original license will increase by $100 and license renewals by $50, according to the auditor-controller’s office.
