4 Kin of Ex-Dictator Sentenced to Hang
The son-in-law and three grandsons of Myanmar’s former dictator Ne Win were sentenced to hang after a court found them guilty of plotting to overthrow the military government. The government said the coup plot was hatched because Ne Win’s relatives were angry over losing privileges when the 91-year-old leader was pushed out of the country’s power structure.
Ne Win ruled for 26 years until 1988 and has been under house arrest with his daughter since the coup plot emerged in March.
