Gov. Gray Davis Is Bad for Business

Share

As a business owner in California, I can understand why companies will leave California at an even faster rate (“Davis OKs Paid Family Leave Bill,” Sept. 24). Under the administration of Gov. Gray Davis I have seen my electricity bill triple (Enron dealings), my worker’s comp and medical insurance payments increase by at least 50% and workers who get unemployment even though they quit. Now I have to pay [to replace] employees when they are not at work if they must take care of a so-called sick one. The problem is all the fraud that will occur from this new law, drastically hurting business.

Bill Simon is no angel, but he at least has enough sense not to hurt business (which is a major job provider) or make the mistakes the Davis administration has made--not to mention the smear campaign undertaken by the Davis campaign and the botched computer modernization, canceled when halfway done.

I think the family leave law is the last straw, and I will move my company--which employs 30 people, with at least three to five family members per employee who are being supported by us, so they will have to move or lose their jobs--to Nevada.
