School May Decide Gay Teacher’s Employment

From Times Wire Reports

The Utah Supreme Court left it up to education officials whether to fire a lesbian high school teacher.

The ruling was a victory for psychology teacher Wendy Weaver, who came under attack from parents and students at Spanish Fork High School in a heavily Mormon part of Utah.

A lawsuit accused Weaver of failing to be a good role model.

“What they were going after was not really within their right as citizens to do,” Weaver said. “I also believe that they’re scared to have their kids see someone who is gay but who functions and is happy and they like.”
