Ex-Trevi Backup Singer Held for Trial in Rape
The former backup singer of imprisoned Mexican pop idol Gloria Trevi was ordered held for trial in Mexico on charges of aggravated rape, kidnapping and corruption of minors.
Maria Raquenel Portillo, known as Mary Boquitas, will be transferred to the women’s area of a maximum-security prison where Trevi also is being held.
Portillo was extradited last week from Brazil, where she had been imprisoned since January 2000 along with Trevi and Trevi’s manager, Sergio Andrade. Prosecutors say the three recruited teenage girls for live-in musical training and forced them to have sex with Andrade.
