PG&E; Alters Power Lines to Protect Condors

The giant California condors that soar above the Big Sur wilderness have new protection from deadly power lines.
A power line in Anderson Canyon where a newly released condor was electrocuted in December has been condor-proofed by Pacific Gas & Electric Co., at a cost of about $100,000.
PG&E; workers replaced bare electrical wire with insulated wire, then wrapped the wires with spiral-shaped “bird diverters” to make them more visible.
