The Price of No Budget

Re “It’s Spring Break; the Budget Can Wait,” April 14: Thank you for again raising the California budget issue, particularly when our “leaders” have gone on “spring break” without fixing the problem. Here’s one Republican who thinks it’s serious enough to warrant raising the sales tax temporarily until the gap is closed.

It’s time for all Californians to share the cost and fix the problem -- now! Financial deficits are an abstract subject. Perhaps The Times could explain more about how a growing deficit will force even more spending cuts that will affect all of us. There are plenty of South American countries to use as an example.
