California Atty. Gen. Bill Lockyer, 61, and Nadia Maria Davis, 31, a Democratic Party activist and Orange County attorney, will be married today at a small private ceremony, a spokesman said Thursday.

It will be Lockyer’s third marriage and Davis’ first, said Nathan Barankin. He said the wedding would occur at an undisclosed site in Northern California.

Barankin said the couple met during Democratic Party activities and had been “in a serious relationship for some time.” He said the couple is expecting the birth of a baby in late summer.

Asked how the marriage might affect Lockyer’s potential campaign for governor in 2006, Barankin said Lockyer is intent on being the “best attorney general he can be, and he’s also committed to being the best husband and father he can be.”

Lockyer is the father of a grown daughter from a previous marriage. He has been divorced for 20 years. Barankin said Davis practices law in Orange County, is a party activist and a former member of the Santa Ana school board and the state Commission on Teacher Credentialing. She is a graduate of UCLA and Loyola Law School.
