When It Comes to Pot, the ACLU Defies Logic

Share

Re “Dogs Nose About Schools, Seeking Drugs,” April 21: Congratulations to the American Civil Liberties Union, which, by its filing of a lawsuit against using pot-sniffing dogs on public school campuses, once again has proven not only that it lives on another planet and in the best of all possible worlds, but that its attorneys have not been in a public school classroom recently nor have they ever tried to teach in one.

The ACLU claimed that a school using pot-sniffing dogs is “not a conducive atmosphere to learning.” Using this through-the-looking-glass logic so near and dear to the ACLU’s heart, it would then seem that pot smoking is an atmosphere conducive to learning. What is the ACLU smoking?

What a great idea! If you take drugs to school -- which is illegal, after all -- you’ll be found out. Hopefully, it will at least deter the dealers from selling on campuses and allow the children to learn in an atmosphere conducive to learning, which is, after all, why they are there. I think the ACLU is putting our children’s health and safety (which is their civil right while at school) below that of the drug pushers’ right to sell them an illegal substance. Can you explain to me this logic?
