Portland Trail Blazer swingman Scottie Pippen’s surgically repaired left knee hurt so much Tuesday that he was unsure of playing in Game 2 today against the Dallas Mavericks.

“I’m pretty sore right now,” he said Tuesday. “I’ve got some swelling. Unfortunately, I’m sort of day-to-day. It’s going to be a wait-and-see type of situation.”

Pippen was two for eight for five points in 32 minutes in Game 1. He had four rebounds, five assists and a team-high four turnovers while wearing a protective sleeve over his leg. He had surgery on March 18.

Asked how long he needs to be healed, Pippen said, “About two months. Seriously.”

Damon Stoudamire will likely start if Pippen doesn’t.

Trail Blazer forward Rasheed Wallace also was sore after spraining his left ankle in Game 1, but he was expected to play.

Sacramento King forward Chris Webber will have therapy and treatment on the strained muscles in his lower back in hopes of returning for Saturday’s Game 3 against the Utah Jazz.

An MRI exam was negative. Webber left Game 2 early in the second quarter Monday.

Forward Antonio McDyess had surgery on the broken left kneecap that sidelined him for all of his first season with the New York Knicks.

Dr. Norman Scott, the Knicks’ team physician, said McDyess would begin rehabilitation in about three weeks. The team hopes McDyess will be ready to play early next season.

Charlotte Hornet point guard Baron Davis missed practice again and remained questionable for today’s Game 2 against the Philadelphia 76ers because of a bone bruise in his left knee.

If Davis doesn’t play, Coach Paul Silas said he probably will start George Lynch alongside David Wesley in the backcourt.
