From Times Wire Reports

The Defense Department said it was scaling back participation at the Paris Air Show in what industry officials called a thinly veiled slap at France for opposing the war in Iraq.

The department said it would send no one above colonel rank to the June 15-22 event. In addition, no U.S. aircraft would join the traditional daily flyovers that demonstrate performance characteristics to air show visitors and weapons buyers from around the world, said a Pentagon spokesman.

Six U.S. aircraft would be parked at the show.
