A state appeals court has declined to reconsider a lower court ruling requiring the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians to abide by state law when contributing to California political campaigns.

An appeal was denied without comment Thursday by the 3rd District Court of Appeal.

The Agua Caliente, one of the state’s wealthiest and most influential tribes, had argued that because of tribal sovereignty, it was not bound by campaign rules and California did not have the right to sue to enforce them.
