INVITED TO: General Motors’ second annual movie-themed “ten” party with performances by Eve and N.E.R.D and “surprise guests.”

BABY, YOU CAN DRIVE MY CAR: “Come on in,” says David Spade, working the velvet rope that surrounds the more exclusive sitting area in the tented splendor of this transformed Hollywood parking lot. It’s hard to fathom what’s behind the insisted-upon lowercase party title “ten,” except that the concept is a decade-by-decade display of stars, cars and fashion tagged to film themes. For an opener, Sarah Wynter models a Roaring ‘20s Mary Pickford number by Chanel that’s based on “Coquette,” while a dashing ’27 Cadillac LaSalle rumbles behind her. The ‘50s segment has Jennifer Love Hewitt in a “Sabrina” get-up alongside a ’57 Chevy Bel Air. The highlight comes during the “Me” decade, with Adrien Brody cavorting in a white “Saturday Night Fever” suit alongside the low-slung hood of a red ’72 ‘Vette LT-1 convertible. The likes of Kimberly Stewart (daughter of Rod) and actresses Erika Christensen and Aisha Tyler coo over the clothes, while Jerry O’Connell of “Crossing Jordan” is all over the internal combustion. “My charity is my Cadillac,” he says, the valet having just parked his 2003 DeVille DHS. “When GM calls, I’m there.”

RISE UP: “I need to feel everybody in the building,” shouts hiphop siren Eve from the bandstand. Folks crush in, Eve belts out her hit, “Let Me Blow Ya Mind,” and shortly thereafter, she’s gone. N.E.R.D follows with a longer set, and takes Eve’s sentiment more than just a few steps further. “I want you all to come up onstage with me,” lead singer Pharrell Williams invites the crowd, and a goodly portion do just that. Williams signs off by getting the house to chant an oh-so-bluntly worded plea for world peace. Things take a tender turn with unexpected performances by ‘N Syncers Lance Bass and Justin Timberlake. Backstage, the boys shared hugs and noogies, with Timberlake affectionately telling Bass, “You’re stupid, ha, ha.” Bass, who logged more time onstage than he did training for the Russian space shuttle, takes even himself by surprise. “I just knew that this is supposed to be, like, a really great party,” he explains. “I knew my friend Eve was performing, and then all of a sudden Justin is onstage, so I thought, ‘Oh, I’m going up, too.’ ”
