From Times Wire Reports
Authorities raided a cockfight in New York and arrested more than 70 people on suspicion of animal fighting and other allegations, prosecutors said.
Nineteen roosters and more than $17,000 were seized in the Saturday night raid on a Bronx building, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said.
Steven Reed, a spokesman for the Bronx district attorney’s office, said eight of those arrested were awaiting arraignment on felony animal fighting charges.
