U.S. Seeks Data From State Power Agency

The agency that manages California’s power transmission grid was ordered to turn over documents to U.S. prosecutors about the state’s power supply and prices during the energy crisis in 2000 and 2001.

The California Independent System Operator must give documents about another state agency, the California Power Exchange, to the U.S. attorney’s office in San Francisco by Aug. 13.

The now-defunct Power Exchange, created as part of the deregulation of California’s energy markets, once operated a day-ahead power market.

The subpoena is the fourth the agency has received from the U.S. attorney, an ISO spokeswoman said.
