Six-Month Toll From Pneumonia Tops 3,000

More than 3,000 people, 70% of them children, have died of pneumonia in the first six months of this year in Guatemala, authorities said.
Health department statistics showed that 124,000 cases of pneumonia had been diagnosed during the period and that 3,261 patients died -- including 2,185 children younger than 10.
