* Oracle Corp. extended its hostile bid to buy PeopleSoft Inc. until Sept. 19. Oracle’s offer to pay $19.50 a share for its Pleasanton, Calif.-based rival had been set to expire Aug. 15.

* Sun Microsystems Inc. agreed to buy closely held CenterRun Inc. of Redwood City, Calif., for an undisclosed amount of cash to sell software for distributing, repairing and updating programs on computer networks automatically.

* Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates has sold an additional 1 million shares of common stock in the company worth at least $25.6 million, Microsoft said in regulatory filings, bringing his total sold since the beginning of August to 5 million shares.
