Park Will Be Renamed for Slain Deputy
From Times Staff Reports
Lake Los Angeles Park will be renamed in honor of Stephen Sorensen, the resident sheriff’s deputy who was gunned down Aug. 2.
The name change was approved Tuesday by the L.A. County Board of Supervisors.
Sorensen, 46, was killed while checking on a trespassing complaint in the Llano area. The suspect in the deputy’s killing, Donald Charles Kueck, is believed to have died in a fiery battle with the Sheriff’s Department’s special weapons team on Friday.
Sorensen is survived by his wife and two children.
