Memorial Planned for Kidnap Victim Stayner
From Times Wire Reports
A group of residents is raising funds to erect a memorial for Steven Stayner, who was kidnapped from his home as a child in 1972 but escaped eight years later.
The effort began after the City Council voted against a proposal in April to name a park after Steven. Some residents had objected to the renaming because Steven’s brother, Cary, was convicted of murdering four women. Steven died in a motorcycle accident in 1989.
