Farmers Give Up Town Hall They Seized
From Times Wire Reports
A radical farm group gave up a town hall it seized more than a year ago in San Salvador Atenco, east of Mexico City, during a successful effort to prevent an airport from being built. In return, authorities promised not to prosecute the group for seizing property and taking hostages during the anti-airport protests.
It was unclear if the farmers would allow new elections for mayor. Supported by leftists and anarchists, they have ruled the town since last year.
