Testing All Students

Share

Thank you for debunking the myth surrounding the Houston and New York school systems (“School Miracles vs. Reality,” editorial, Aug. 16). I agree that neglecting to test students who are behind fails to address problems. Hanging these students out to dry only exacerbates problems. Furthermore, denying students an opportunity to take the National Assessment of Educational Progress is a slap in the face to equal opportunity.

As a high school student, I strongly believe that all students, regardless of their level of English proficiency, should be given a chance to show their abilities.
